David F. Redington was born and raised in south Florida primarily residing in the Fort Lauderdale/ Pompano beach area. Fishing ever since he learned how to walk, David had a strong passion for the sport. He started working for pompano bait and tackle doing rod and reel repair then went to work for Custom Rod & Gun in his high school days and mentored under some of the best rod builders in south Florida! ( Tom Greene, George Copeland, Danny Palmatier and Randy Towe ). He then wanted to take his passion to the next level where he started Redington Customs in the mid 80’s. He started out as doing custom rods then expanded to wholesaling rods, where he built the Bob Schneider Signature series trolling rods and built rods and blanks for major company’s in south Florida! 
 

He was cofounder and part owner of Redington Fly Rods in 1993 until it’s sale to Orvis in 2000!

After the overwhelming requests for rod builds, David thought it was only fair to past clients to start a new company called South Fork Rod Company in 2006. David and his son Bradley are continuing to build high quality hand crafted rods to this day.

Bradley Redington was born and raised in Stuart, Florida. He was taught how to fish ever since he could hold a rod in his hand. David and his wife Margot, taught their son Bradley everything they knew and passed down their experience and knowledge to him. Bradley was so obsessed with fishing that he would wake up extra early, and go fishing before his classes even started in high school. With being a proud Redington, it was only in his blood to start rod building. He started with guide repair, learning the basics and learning how to master building the perfect rod. 

 

David was chosen to be a judge for the 2021 American Tackle International rod building challenge. They received an invite for the follow year later, Brad and David were both judges for 2022.
